Music from the Appalachian Mountains is unique and timeless. With nothing more than stringed instruments and harmonized voices, people made music with a distinctive sound that has been unchanged for generations. The Singing Cookes have revisited their musical roots with this string acoustic compilation of gospel favorites. The tight family harmony transports you back to the Appalachian Mountains where music remains pure and simple.
This project is new, yet traditionally and unmistakable genuine Spinging Cookes. Two special bonus tracks are included. Hubert and Jeanette lend their voices on harmony singing “There’s A Higher Power” with Hubert’s late brother, Jack Cooke. Jack sang and played bass with Ralph Stanley for over 40 years. “Nothing but the Blood of Jesus” is an instrumental featuring Ronny on the mountain dulcimer and James on the acoustic bass.
